I AM Diversity — Workshop Leadership Course led by Gino Walker

This beautiful work is a soul call from within. The purpose to explore our prejudice, bias and racism.  Taking full ownership of our participation mentally and spiritually.

A personal journey, an awareness of our inner thoughts, beliefs and old stories that we have kept alive through our past experiences, media, family and social contagion.

Using Universal Principles, we will explore exercises that call us to a higher listening and meditative practice.

1. Take responsibility
2. Acknowledgment
3. Forgiveness
4. Release
5. Create New Feeling Pattern

“Your mission in life is where your deep joy and the world’s deep hunger meet” ~ Richard Nelson Bolles

We have arrived. It is our time to approach our diversity within ourselves. It is only then that we can let go of prejudice, racism, violence and hatred. Let us Be Powerful, Invincible and Loving on our Quest. – Gino

Elephant in the Room
The Elephant in the Room

The ‘elephant in the room’ represents our unresolved, possibly unknown, bias and prejudice. The elephant is sort of round, like the world, and in the folds of the elephant’s skin are words hidden. You have to look really hard to find them. The words are both positive and negative like: love, peace, joy, togetherness, healing, cooperation, tolerance, prosperity, hate, prejudice, bias, intolerance, segregation, anger, fear, separation. Our work is to acknowledge and examine what is present, and learn to talk about it to move forward together.

Music:  Part of the Heart of Ministry

Leadership Course led by Gino Walker (master musician) and Craig B. (Unity of Phoenix Music Director) to talk about:

  • The Energy of music and how to utilize it.
  • How to use Sing-a-longs.
  • Is music a vital part of your ministry?
  • Are your song selections and themes beneficial to the ministry?
  • What resources are there?
  • What about licensing problems?
Both Gino and Craig will offer some musical selections.

Ethics Call: Conversations with Unity Leaders

Reported by your SW Region Communications Consultant, Malayna Dawn

The April 12, 2018 web conference call on the topic of Ethics was led by Cynthia Vermillion-Foster, UWM Member Services Director. About 20 people logged in via computer and phone to be part of the discussion.

Cynthia explained that a task team has been put together, following discussion at the last People’s Convention, to explore the concept of expanding the ministers’ code of ethics, with some adjustments, to apply to all leaders. The team was scheduled to meet just after the conference call to take what they heard into their next steps.

Rev. Denese Schellink, our Regi. Rep. confirmed that the most recent Code of Ethics is the one currently available online, which is dated 2012.

There are areas in which the wording in the Code of Ethics probably wouldn’t change, but opportunities to do work as a movement may be raised. In such cases, one can speak to Carrie Kenyon, Transitional, Employment & Evolving Ministries Coordinator. Continue reading “Ethics Call: Conversations with Unity Leaders”
